About Bayliss Park
As with many towns in Iowa that have grown up to become small cities, Council Bluffs has had, and continues to preserve, a beautiful and peaceful town square. On a given day, you can catch a city orchestra show, a dog costume contest, and even the occasional wedding. Bayliss Park is known to folks from the community as a relaxing gathering point for citizens of Council Bluffs, and is just a quick walk from many historic buildings (for instance, check out the old Public Library, that has been converted into a Union Pacific Museum!) in the city.
The fountain at Bayliss Park
Growing up in Council Bluffs, Bayliss Park was the type of place where any worries seemed to melt away into the methodical splashing sounds of the massive multi-colored fountain. While the fountain that serves as the crown jewel of the park is not the same as that of my childhood, the place is no less relaxing than it was in years prior.
Music in Bayliss Park
Council Bluffs is a city that has always held the performing arts in very high regards. The robust Music in the Park schedule is where to find details on upcoming performances in the park with music ranging from Big Band to Jazz, and everything in-between.
If you’re visiting Council Bluffs (or haven’t been to Bayliss Park before), take a second to grab some picnic supplies from the local Hy-Vee, head to the park, leave the cell phone in the car, and let the relaxation of the place wash over you and carry your worries away.
