About West Oak Coffee Bar
Denton Texas is home to the University of North Texas, and a vibrant craft restaurant and bar scene supported by the student population. I was there recently to visit a friend, and of course, coffee was my first stop. The bottom line is that, if you happen to find yourself in the middle of Denton, TX and you’re looking for the perfect buzz to help get you over the finish line for that paper you’ve been writing for weeks, get on over to West Oak Coffee Bar.
West Oak Coffee Bar is my friend’s favorite coffee joint in town, so that’s where we landed to pump copious amounts of caffeine through our veins to prepare for a big night of Texas fun. I have to admit, before I walked in, I wasn’t sure how well coffee in a small college town in Texas would measure up to the brilliant brews I’ve experienced in Austin (where I live) and elsewhere. It was excellent.
The minute I walked through the door, the smell of freshly brewing Intelligentsia (from Chicago) put a smile on my face. I almost wept. Ok, not really… but it was definitely a pleasant surprise– a coffee oasis in the middle of Northern Texas.
I’m a firm believer that coffee is like any fuel. The cleaner the fuel, the more efficient the energy creation. Don’t waste your time with mass-market coffee companies with inferior beans / roasts. Instead, if you live, work, go to school, or are just passing through the area, go to West Oak Coffee Bar to find a carefully prepared, locally made cup of coffee. You’ll be happy you did. The coffee is great and the physical space is warm and inviting.
As for my friend? Well, she gets a whole lot of cred. 🙂
